Seth Yakatan, Co-Founder
Seth has over 15 years of experience as a corporate finance professional in North America.
Seth began his career in venture capital as an Analyst with both the Ventana Growth Funds and Sureste Venture Management. In both of these capacities Seth gained significant exposure to the creation of several successful venture-backed companies in the Life Sciences.
Prior to founding Katan in 2001, Seth worked in a merchant banking capacity with Union Bank of California, N.A., in the Specialized Lending Media and Telecommunications Group. During his six years there, he completed numerous debt financings totaling in excess of several billion dollars, while placing subordinated debt and private equity into several portfolio companies on behalf of the bank.
In the past five years as a Co-Founder of Katan, Seth has led numerous sell-side M&A engagements for companies in the Life Science space, generating aggregate transaction value in excess of $75.0 million. Additionally, Seth has been responsible for closing three early-stage pharmaceutical partnering assignments with aggregate value generated for clients in excess of $250.0 million.
Seth is a regular speaker at many industry events and for the past several years has been fortunate to serve as a faculty member for the BIO Annual Meeting Executive Workshop Series.
Currently, Seth serves as board member for DCI Business Development Company, Inc. (OTCBB:DCIU). Additionally Seth serves as an Advisor to Boston Communications, a communications consultancy helping business leaders address their greatest communications challenges, and to The Brookwood Group, a specialized real estate and restaurant consulting firm.
Seth holds a MBA in Finance and Statistics from the University of California, Irvine and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Public Affairs from the University of Denver.
